With My Own Two Hands Director of Development

Company: With My Own Two Hands Foundation
Date Posted: August 23, 2017

Position Title: Director of Development – Part time (20-25 hours/week)

Organization Overview:

With My Own Two Hands Foundation is a 501c(3) nonprofit organization based in Laguna Beach, CA that provides water and agricultural projects in Africa that fund education and create self-reliant projects and communities.

Our model creates self-reliance by setting up water and agricultural business-like ventures where surplus is sold to the local community. A minimum of 40% of proceeds goes toward funding education. Our areas of focus include:

  1. Water: We help bring clean running water to projects that are investing in the education of children.

  2. Agriculture: We provide agricultural projects that generate both food (diversity in diets) and income from surplus sales.

  3. Education: We have a unique model that assures that a percentage of the income derived from water and agriculture projects is used to fund the education of children in the local community.

How it works:

We have a local Program Director on the ground in Kenya who investigates working NGOs (non- government organizations) and community based projects within our areas of focus. We engage the local WMO2H community to raise funds and our Program Director hires and manages necessary construction and other vendors to complete the project. Once a project is complete, we take volunteer teams to see the results. Donors witness first-hand the impact of their donations and fundraising efforts. Each project implemented has a water/agriculture oversight committee (one seat to WMO2H) that oversees funds, maintenance and reporting.

This is an exciting time to join the With My Own Two Hands Foundation! In the past 5 years WMO2H has grown significantly. Together we have raised funds and arranged for the construction of an orphanage, a rescue dormitory, a school, two water bore holes, six green houses, as well as planted hundreds of fruit bearing trees and provided school uniforms and supplies, and birthday gifts. Earlier this year, we recently refined our mission to focus on water and agricultural projects and are currently redesigning all marketing materials and website to reflect new model/mission. As our organization continues to grow with a budget of more than $160,000 in donations this year, we seek the addition of part time development director, who will help us further scale our organization as we endeavor to reach annual donations of $500,000 by the year 2020.
